About the event

Bat Conservation International

Agave Program

1pm • in the Lodge

Bat Conservation International’s Restoration team is part of the organization's Habitat Restoration and Protection Program. The Restoration Team works toward BCI’s mission to conserve the world’s bats and their ecosystems to ensure a healthy planet, through hands-on restoration work. Much of the team's work is concentrated in the southwestern United States, as it holds the highest diversity of bat species in the country.

Brianna Mann, Habitat Restoration Specialist will discuss BCI’s Agave Program, sharing the importance of agave for foraging of nectar feeding bats. She will introduce the latest efforts of BCI’s team to track the migratory nectar bats in New Mexico and share a summary and results from past eDNA (environmental DNA) from BCI’s Community Science program. She will have instructions and eDNA kits for anyone who would like to participate in the Silver City area for the 2026 season.
